” Hey girl! It’s me – your old pal, Expensive Creams. Or should I say your NEW pal! We’re going to have so much fun together, you have no idea. It’s going to be wild. I have been waiting and waiting and waiting for this day You must have seen me, surely. On your mom’s shelves? In the windows of fancy department stores, wrapped up like precious gems from exotic lands? Ohhh, buddy. I’ve been watching since you were breaking into the medicine cabinet and slathering Pond’s all over your face till you were pasty white and crumbling like some kind of moon child. What you didn’t realize was that you were just practicing the extreme-y, creamy measures you would one day take in a futile attempt to stop the relentless pull of gravity.”- Monica Heisey
I Can’t Believe It’s Not Better is a smart, funny, and open guide to all that keeps gals up at night as they think about their careers, dating, food, and friends. Monica, with cleverness and Canadian spunk navigates all of life’s mundane events with humor and a level of honesty that is most often found among true friends. Writing about burritos, how to handle a party, odes to cheese, and good/bad mistakes, Heisey is original and refreshing. At times the book can be a bit too goofy or honest for comfort, but overall, it is a thoroughly enjoyable read. I Can’t Believe It’s Not Better is entertaining, and while ideally suited for twenty-somethings, this is a great read for any lady interested in getting a laugh and having a light read for summertime!
